Another Adventurous Year

Guys, I have awesome news. Do you know what day tomorrow is? My birthday! This a picture of me as a newborn baby and my uncles and their friend but I don't remember his name. It goes Uncle Derek, Uncle Mike, and then friend. They couldn't hold me because I had a broken femur and was in a cast. Yes, newborn me got a broken femur thanks to an idiot delivery doctor. I've had an interesting life. A very good and blessed life, that like everyone else has trials. But that makes us stronger right? I was just about to say, well then enough about me... But that's basically what these posts are. About me and my life. I could go on and on about myself, because it has 26 years of life experiences. But that's not something I feel like talking about much.

It's been a good week for me. But a particularly challenging one. I feel like I was running this week on a short fuse. Cranky, and tired, and ready for it to be over. Which thankfully the week has come to a close rather quickly, even if it has felt like ages. However, today has been pretty amazing, I will post a picture a little further down showing how amazing my coworkers are. Oh by the way, that's a picture of me and my Uncle Mike. I've lucked out with some really great Uncles and Aunts. This week has provided me with even more chances to learn patience, patience with others is hard. I had to work on that this week while having another coworker tear me to shreds in front of my team, my manager, and another team. I had done nothing wrong, just what I was told, and they had problems with that. But I'm working on this new philosophy in life of forgiving others for their imperfections. Because, I have imperfections too. A lot of them. Besides that, I had to learn patience in situations, like all day meetings half the week, or even just meetings in general. I didn't have enough time this week to get everything done that I needed to.

Anyway, I'm tired of typing, lets wrap this up with the fun stuff! You will never guess what I came into work to find, this. Awesomness... They went all out for me (I'll be posting more pictures at the bottom) They had donuts for the morning. Some of them went for sushi, and even though I didn't want to go my manager made me haha she's really awesome. Then when we got there they wouldn't even let me pay! My manager paid for me. After eating my food Becky had brought ice cream. So I got to have ice cream too! now you can't see very well but I currently have 3 plants. I've named them all. the small one on the left is Kevin, the middle one (the tulip) is Gwen, and the big one on the right is named Dave. I giggle that people brought me plants because I thought my last post was titled I kill plants, and now I have 3 I have to take care of. I will keep you posted on how they are doing. Hopefully I can keep them alive, wish me luck. I promise to post all about my birthday weekend shenanigans next post. In the meantime please enjoy the pictures below.

I'm a plant killer

Is it just me, or do you come to Fridays and just feel mentally over that day. It's been a long week, and I'm exhausted. There is a meme that says "I can't brain today, I has the dumb" that is the story of my life today. Bring on the weekend! Now to my week.

My week started out great! Sunday was awesome and Monday I didn't have to go to work! Even though I love work, I like long weekends too. Now to the heart break, I came to work Tuesday to find Petunia had died! Apparently she decided that she couldn't last 3 days without water. Psh. What a drama queen! :) I know everyone back East has had awful weather, which makes me sad for all my friends out there. But, not to brag to them, it has been AMAZING weather out here *knocks on wood* It got up to almost 60 twice this week, and it's February... Hey, I am NOT complaining. What I am complaining about is the fact that it's going to dump snow on us starting the end of next week. Guess which day it will be the coldest and snowing the worst (or so the weather channel says.) On my birthday. Without fail it has either snowed on, or had snow on the ground for my birthday every year that I can remember. Crazy funny how stuff like that happens. Which brings me to my next long paragraph.

This Sunday my little brother, who is currently taller than me, turns 24. My brother Daniel and I are 6 days shy of two years apart. It has been a lot of fun to be able to grow up with him. I remember a lot of our birthday parties growing up. Since we had basically the same friends, and were so close in birthdates we usually shared parties when we were kids. Which I abolutely loved. Sometimes I liked to pretend we had the same birthday. I know that's insanely cheesy, but who cares. Anyway back to the parties. My Mom and Dad are really clever, and all our birthdays had super fun themed parties, complete with games or other activities, and of course fun cakes which I think for the most part my mom made (Or so I recall, at least as much of my childhood I remember.) My favorite themed party we did was a backwards party. Everyone who came, as well as my parents (if i remember correctly) and Daniel and I wore our clothes facing the wrong way. I thought it was such a silly idea and loved it. We had so much fun that year. Daniel and I have lucked out at sharing a lot of awesome experiences and it has helped us grow closer together. Which I'm very grateful for.

So, this week I've been watching one of my best friends kids while she is back East with her family. Her Husband works gaveyards and leaves at 5:30 most days, so he can't watch the kids at night. Let me just say, these kids are amazing, VERY well behaved, but being an insta makeshift mom of 4 has been an interesting experience for me. Mainly because I can't cook. Well not well at least Haha! It's been a fun experience. Plus, it's taught me that I could succesfully be a mom of 4, and not starve my children in the process. Now I'm less afraid :) Thanks for the awesome experience Becky! I promise you will get your kids back in one piece... Mostly ;P

Well my friends, I really don't have much more to say today. Clary and Becky's dog Lucy are still working on not fighting anymore. Small dogs fighting for dominance... Lets just say it's entertaining that's for sure. Well, anyway that's it for me TTFN, Ta ta for now.

Insert Clever Post Name

I've tried to write this post like 8 times. Each time, I can't think of a single thing to say. So, let the rambling begin!

This week has been intense. That's the only way I know how to describe it. Big things have happened. Starting with work. The end of last week we moved to new desks... On a different floor... its super weird, but I really like it. The cubicle walls are taller which adds to more privacy, and helps me focus more. This is my desk. It's really awesome I promise.
Onto the next fun thing about work. This week I was given the opportunity to be a project manager! It means that there was a project of updating all the active courses with some new wording. We have 1184 active courses and most of them have multiple versions. Anyway, my job was to lead the team on this. Like, I gave out the assignments, and made sure they were done. I also was responsible to get it done in 2 weeks. I have an AMAZING team, and they focused and worked really hard and we cranked it out in one week instead! It was super cool.

As far as school goes we have entrance exams to get into the University. Well, thanks to some hard work, all 4 exams were passed! Now if my transcripts would only be processed life would be awesome :) (Assuming I get accepted) Then I'll start classes in 2 months.

So, my dog currently  has 3 weird things she does. First, the less weird one (I know it's instinctual) she will chew a treat for a few minutes, until it's nice and soggy, then hide it in my covers, or anything close she can find. I know dogs bury things all the time, but it's still weird. The next, she will sit in the light or the dark on the corner of my bed and stare at herself in the mirror for hours. I don't even understand. And lastly, when she isn't staring at herself in the mirror at nights, her latest favorite thing to do is crawl under my covers, curl up in a ball and sleep. For hours. I mean, isn't it hot? I just don't get it.

I don't know what else to really say. That is all I have for you. See you next week.

One Day at a Time...

Sometimes as an adult we get so caught up in our day to day life, that we forget to take a step back and look over our life, analyze where we are. Today (since I'm starting from square one...again) I will catch you all up on where I am in life. Over the last year, I've moved 3 times. Yet, never leaving Utah in the process. I currently live in Cottonwood Heights, and I absolutely LOVE where I live.

I work full-time in a great job, with the most amazing people, at Western Governors University. It's been a really good fit for me, and I feel that I can do my job well. I'm on the maintenance team. My team resolves every complaint or concern anyone has (student or teacher) As well as make all the changes requested for courses. It's busy and fast-paced, and I love it!

I have the most adorable 1 year old puppy, Clary, who is sweet, cuddly and everything a girl could ask for. Well, except when she jumps on my stomach in the middle of the night, which is usually followed by barking, and me having a heart attack. Her hobbies include chasing the other dog we live with, demanding to be pet, and staring at herself in the mirror. She's a riot. I'm glad she's mine.

In other news. I have officially decided to (finally) finish my education. While I've been working I've become extremely interested in Instructional Design. It is something I love doing (currently I can only help on some of it) It has convinced me that I know what I should do with my life. So, at WGU they encourage you each semester once you complete your 12 required credits, to try to finish more classes before the 6 month term ends. Most people earn their degree in half the time. So, my goal is to finish my Bachelors and my Masters in 5 years.

Last story this week... Comicon... It was beyond awesome. I went with my little brother Zach. There is so much to see, and so much to do, that it feels like you will never be able to do everything. Zach knew that I am a little obsessed with the show Supernatural, and 3 of the characters were there. We just so happen to luck out to meet Mark Pellegrino and get a picture with him, (and me a hug) which was by far the coolest thing that happened to me. We met a lot of people in awesome costumes. It is definitely a crowd for the nerdy. Zach had a special pass that got him in an hour earlier and he sent a text saying "Allie. These are our people!" True story. :)

Okay, only one more picture from Comicon with accompanying story. This, for all of you who don't recognize him, is Peter Quill (not the real one) Peter quill is a character in Guardians of the Galaxy. Many of my friends and family know that I have this odd obsession with this amazing movie! Without fail, I watch it at least once a week. My favorite character is Groot. This adorable tree/person who knows a whole 5 words. I have Groot shirts, a keychain, a dancing toy (It's adorable) and pictures drawn for me. So, when I met someone dressed so EXTREMELY authentic (I mean Walkman, headphones, guns, everything) I basically turned into a nerdy Fangirl and had to get a picture with him. I joke now that I should have told him to marry me, but alas, he disappeared into a special VIP room, never to be seen again :) But hey, if you are out there... Call me ;) And that my friends, is all from me for now. Hope your weeks go well! And, I will see you all again next week.
